The Basic Training Division has the responsibility to train Category I, Category II, and Category III peace officers, along with the development of curriculum for all basic training academies in Nevada. The training for Category I peace officers runs approximately 17 weeks and is offered twice a year. Training for category II/category III peace officers runs approximately 7 weeks and is offered once a year.
